A particularly contentious point to be aware of is pricing, most reputable and experienced surveyors will price a boat Survey on length x breadth x a positive multiplier or a fee based on the complexity of the survey.

Be mindful of surveyors who are too cheap or do not belong to a relevant governing body, it should also be noted that the time taken to survey boats is  hugely variant upon type, construction, age and the knowledge and experience of the surveyor.
